Complaint Details
I am a 63 years old lady. I bought my medical insurance in 2014 from Star Health. I bought a classic policy with 3L coverage and a top-up policy with 7L coverage. My dispute is on the top-up policy.
I have been reviewing both my policies by the due dates every year. This year too I renewed my policy in Oct 2020 when it was due. However, Star Health only issued my classic policy and did not issue my top-up policy. When I enquired with them in Dec 2020, they replied to me stating the top-up is rejected because I have Hepatitis C.
When I enquired on what grounds did they diagnose that I have Hepatitis C, they mentioned that the claim I made in year 2015 (5 years ago) for an Angiography carried out back then, their medical team reviewed those tests in 2020 (5 years later) and cancelled my top-up policy. They did not even bother to contact me nor did they bother to notify me about this. I contacted them in Dec 2020 stating I had not received my policy when they had no choice but to tell me about policy cancellation.
Like I mentioned, I have these policies since 2014 and have been paying the premium every year and was issued policy document for top-up policy until 2019.
I am unhappy and frustrated about the way they have treated a senior citizen. I have had my son out of his work to do all the follow-up with Star Health.
I request your intervention in this.
