Complaint Details
I am filing this formal complaint against MakeMyTrip India Pvt. Ltd. and Hari Das Tour & Travels for gross deficiency in service, unfair trade practices, and illegal retention of funds.
Booking Details: On August 31, 2026, I booked two bus tickets (Passengers: Kusum Chaudhary + 1) from Delhi to Bhilwara via MakeMyTrip (Booking ID: NU710681188964430 | PNR: 9BHXY434 | Operator: Hari Das Tour & Travels) scheduled for departure at 21:55 hours. A total sum of ₹2,482.90 was paid via my Axis Bank account.
Unilateral Cancellation & Forced Expense: On the scheduled date of travel (August 31, 2026) at approximately 07:22 PM, the operator cancelled the bus service and communicated the cancellation telephonically. Due to this last-minute cancellation, we were left stranded and forced to book alternative transportation at an additional expense (Booking ID: NU712051188975780).
Misrepresentation & Failure to Refund: Despite the operator-side cancellation, MakeMyTrip erroneously marked the journey status on its platform as "Trip Completed." A complaint was formally registered on their portal (Complaint ID: 24162508782493568, assigned by executive Shivam Mishra). Over 10 days have elapsed since the cancellation, but no refund has been initiated, and customer support channels remain unresponsive.
Retaining money for an unrendered, cancelled service and falsifying the trip status as "Completed" constitutes an unfair trade practice and severe deficiency in service under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
Relief Sought:
Immediate full refund of the principal amount of ₹2,482.90 to the original payment source (Axis Bank) along with applicable interest.
Compensation of ₹25,000 for mental agony, harassment, and extreme inconvenience caused by the abrupt cancellation and misleading trip status.
Reimbursement of additional expenses incurred while arranging emergency alternative transportation.
