Sir,

I am a recent engineering graduate from the Department of Information Technology from Asansol Engineering College under the guidance of West Bengal University of Technology affiliated by the All India council of Technical Education. I got placed in a startup company named “Magnaj Innovations” on February-2013 for which the campussing have been arranged by the college authorities. After getting placed, the company demanded Rs 10,000/- from each student as a refundable security deposit. Due to the grave situations of placements in that particular academic year, I was forced to deposit that amount. The company claimed to have its headquarters at Vijayawada and having collaboration with BSNL for a major project. It also claimed to have its branches at six locations across India. The company was operated by sole-directorship of an individual named “Karthickeyan Kaliyamoorthy”. He claimed to be a HR-Operations and Director of the organisation and that the company was a sister-concern of another firm named “Magna Groups”. The firm always used to postpone its joining dates and finally we stopped receiving notifications from the organization. Later it was found to be a fraud company having no existence and only an individual was responsible for running the whole racket and scamming the students. I would also like to highlight some of the fact of this case which would be helpful to investigate in this matter:
· The company name was “Magnaj Innovations” which claimed to be a sister concern for “Magna Groups”

· The company claimed to be a software developing firm and a recent startup having received a major project from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL)

· The company claimed to have Pharmacy and Food supplement business too

· The company claimed to have its headquarter in Vijayawada and six branches spread across India

· The company uses the BSNL Logo in its official site www.magnajinnovations.com

· The company claimed to have its office address at Shivalayam Street, Bhavani Puram, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh-520012
· The company claimed to have its branch in Delhi at Gurudhawara Road, Dilshad Garden, Near Jhilmil metro Station, New Delhi-110095

· The company conducted placements all over India and recruited more than 1000+ students

· The main target states of the company was Punjab, New Delhi, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal

· The company was run under a sole individual named “Karthickeyan Kaliyamoorthy” who was assisted by other HR’s who also were indeed newly recruited from MBA colleges

· Mr. Karthickeyan asked for a DD of Rs 10,000 from all the students favouring Karthickeyan Kaliyamoorthy, failing which the job offer would be cancelled

· The company was invited in On-Campus Placements by our college “Asansol Engineering College” lying under “Techno India Group Colleges” for which the counseling took place at Bengal Institute of Technology, Kolkata (another college under “Techno India group colleges)

· Mr Karthickeyan used to send all the company intimations through Facebook or by Gmail through his personal mail-ID

· The company always made false promises of joining , which was deferred till date

· The main target of Mr. Karthick was jobseeking students who could easily fall prey to his trap

· Mr Karthick alone collected more than Rs 100 lakhs + from the students

· The company invited all the students to an Induction Party in which he asked all the students to further deposit Rs 3000 for charity purposes of the organization, failing which he would terminate the students. The students readily deposited the money fearing termination

· The company was assisted strongly by the Training and placement officers of various colleges. One among them was the training and placement officer of J.C.Bose College of Engineering, West Bengal (Supreme Knowledge Foundation), Mr. Saranya Chakraborty

· The Facebook profile of Mr Karthick is now deactivated and he is absconding from past 12 months

· It was found that the company have no existence at its claimed locations

· The list of students recruited by the organization along with their contact details and e-mail ID are attached with this mail

· Since all the students are either busy searching for jobs, and also unaware of the criminal procedures, no official complaint has been made at the police-station or to the consumer court

· All the scanned copies of the documents and the pictures of Mr. Karthick will be mailed to you upon request. Some of them are already attached with this mail.

· Thousands of students are still struggling to find a job since everyone waited in anticipation for their joining call from Mr. Karthick

· Mr Karthick not only robbed us of our hard-earned money but he juggled with the career of many but due to his master-plans and still he is roaming freely

· The college authorities also turned its back and also offered no support to the students. The college authorities did not want to put the blame on them

With great hope and trust, I am writing this letter to you, which explains the pathetic situation of unemployed students like me has faced in search of a job. Due to lack of proper sources and information, I look forward to you to investigate this matter so that at least the guilty can be punished. Due to lack of knowledge of the students, no formal complaint was lodged against Mr Karthick and he is still free and is absconding for the past 12 months. Please feel free to contact for any further details regarding this case. With great expectations, I look forward to get back my hard-earned money.
