Hi,

I am a student traveling to US and I made a terrible mistake of booking my flight with Qatar Airways. They have advertized baggage allowance for students (3 bags) as shown in the attachment (link - http://www.qatarairways.com/in/en/cugs/student-offer.page)

Firstly, I could not find an option to select student promotion during online booking as advertised in the website and therefore got only 2 bags as allowance.

I emailed them with the query to whatever email addresses I could find(ebooking@qatarairways.com.qa, qatarairways@qatarairways.com.qa,
qreticket@qatarairways.com.qa) without any response for days.

When I called up customer service in Ahmedabad, a guy named Faizal said since I have already paid there is nothing that could be done. He in fact said to avail excess baggage under student category I will have to shell out $200 as online booking was different from phone/agent booking. If I were to buy excess baggage as a normal customer from any other airline, the price would be around $ 25 for one excess baggage. This is a clear ploy to hoodwink customers and wrongly advertising an offer without having any intent of giving the benefit. I also registered the complaint online without any response till date.


If I would have known this from before, I would have selected any other airline which would have readily provided me with 3 bags without any fuss and any extra charges that I am now being forced to pay to the airline.

Considering this circumstance, I would kindly request you to take appropriate action against the airline so that they do not cheat students and other customers with such misleading offers.
