Complaint Details
On 28/7/14 I purchased diesel worth Rs.1000. from the NRL energy station in NH37 Bypass, Jorhat, Assam. The person stopped the meter at rs. 792.00 and tried to take Rs. 1000.00. He took Rs.1,000.00 from me and and closed the petrol tank. When I protested he initially maintained that he had poured petrol worth Rs. 1,000.00 but when two witnesses supported my claim and all three approached the m,anager he said that the power supply stopped suddenly and he was about to put in the remaining quanity. The person in the office may be the manager tried top show that he was angry and pretended to slap the pumpman. I told him not to use physical violence and asked for the complaint book. The man in office said that the book was not available. In the mean time the pump man was trying to refund Rs. 300.00 to me . I [pointed out that the exact amount to be paid was 792 and hence he shopuld return only (1000-792= 208)Rs. 208 0nly. He said iot was alright because he had no change. He was trying to over pay me as an attept to placate me. The masnager or who ever was in office, was silent during this time implying approval. I asked for a cash memo and that was (no. 3692 dt.28/7/14) reluctantly issued. I have retained the same. I had a similar experience in the same petrol pump on 21st when I was sought to be cheated of Rs.200.00 when I was buying petrol for Rs. 1000.00. Since I was driving out of town and another pump man claimed that the offender was a new person and did not know how to operate I igno9red it and asked the person to fill in the the remaining quanity. But when it happened on 28th too and when the office refused to make the complaint book available I suspected that it is a common practice in that petrol pump asnd management might be involved. NRL must investigate and punish the offending pump.
