Dear CFBP,
This in reference to my Laptop Dell Vostro A 840(DJF87K1) purchased in Aug-2009 at Ahmednagar Dell Retailer for Rs.29000/-.
After purchase, it was rarely used for 2 years because I relocated in Bangalore for Job and was provided with a laptop by my company. Actual use of Laptop started in 2011, and within a year of use it started showing problem of loose hinges, cheap quality of plastic body which had crack on use, poor battery, adapter not working, hanging while working etc. In July/Aug-2013, I paid Dell India Rs. 10,000/- for repair of my laptop which included a new body for laptop, hinges, LCD, and hard disk. Now, within one year of payment of Rs.10,000/- for repair, my laptop has started showing problems of USB and Audio, not playing properly, getting auto off etc. I contacted Dell Customer care and every time, some or other replacement was suggested demanding more than 10,000/- again. The prices for the spare parts too vary daily from the same Dell Sales team.
Within one year of Laptop repair by paying Rs.10, 000/- this situation has come. This makes the repair charges more than the cost of laptop currently and it’s beyond economy. This according to me derives a conclusion that either the Vostro A 840 is low quality laptop or my unit is defective. Ideally many electronic gadgets last for many years, eg is our TV, Mobiles, refrigerator etc. I agree some or other problem may arise and we need to get repaired but in my case even after paying Rs.10, 000/- within a year it has raised with some problems which again needs more than Rs.10, 000/-. And this might be the scenario next year too.
I doubt on the quality of laptop given by Dell India to me. If we need to repair paying the huge price specially more than the cost of laptop means that Dell Laptop are meant only for warranty period and the life of Laptop is only for 3-4 years. Or it might be that my Laptop is DEFECTIVE, which needs periodic repair. The body changed before 8-9 months had went cracks again showing the quality of plastic used. Dell India is exploiting poor customers after sale and warranty of laptops.
Under such circumstances, I request CFBP to guide me in the case for getting justice.
