Complaint Details
This is in reference to my Laptop Dell Vostro A 840(DJF87K1) purchased in Aug-2009 at Ahmednagar Dell Retailer for approximately Rs.29000/-. After purchase, it was rarely used for 2 years because I relocated to new place for Job and was provided with a laptop by my company.
Actual use of Laptop started in 2011, and within a year of use it started showing problem of loose hinges, cheap quality of plastic body which had crack on use, poor battery, adapter not working, hanging while working etc. The built quality is far cheaper. To repair my laptop I called Dell customer care and Dell India demanded to pay 10,000/- for fixing the issues.
In July/Aug-2013, I paid Dell India Rs.10,000/- for repair of my laptop which included a new body for laptop, hinges, LCD, and harddisk.
Now, within one year of payment of Rs.10,000/- for repair, my laptop has started showing problems of USB and Audio, not playing properly, getting auto off etc. I repeatedly contacted Dell Customer but in vain. On instructions of Dell Executive I showed my laptop to authorized service center in Bangalore but he too cheated by extracting Rs.1000/- and not repaired my laptop. Now Dell is demanding more than Rs.10,000/- to replace some hardware. On discussing with customer executive of Dell, he clearly mentions that any electronic gadget might stop working any time. This specifies the hardware quality used by Dell in India is poor and bound to shoe issues soon.
Already I have spend more than half of cost of my laptop to repair it in last 3 years. And now Dell is demanding to pay more, which makes the maintenance cost more than the real cost of Laptop. This is new way of extracting money from Indian consumers even after sell of product.
I request consumer complaints redressal council to address this type of service and so much high maintenance cost for laptop and guide me in the same.
