I bought Nokia Asha 311 mobile bearing IMEI number: 354619055707391 from "Lakee e Shopping India Pvt Ltd" on October 17th 2013 (Invoice no: 1018630).
On September 4th 2014, I visited their service center located at CMH Road, Indiranagar, Bangalore as the phone was not working. Since, it has not been one year the handset should be under warranty. However, I was told that the handset is not under warranty and had to pay Rs100 as inspection charges. Additionally, after the inspection I was told that I need to pay Rs 2500 to get the phone repaired. I did not give the phone for repair and took the matter to Nokia Customer Care. However, they also mentioned that the phone was not under warranty as "Lakee e Shopping India Pvt Ltd" sold me the handset after keeping for a long time with them.
As a customer, we do not have any visibility on how long a retailer is keeping the stocks before finally selling it. Also, as per Nokia's manual the warranty term states the following:
"The warranty period starts when the Product is sold to an end-user for the first time. This can be evidenced either by (i) the proof of purchase issued by the first retailer or (ii) the date Your Product has first been successfully registered by Nokia".
The proof of purchase makes it clear that the phone is still under warranty.
I have also checked with their staff and they have confirmed that if the phone is considered under warranty then it can be repaired free of cost.
