Complaint Details
Respected Sir / Ma'am,
My name is Anup Kambli, and I am from Goa.
I want to file a complaint against an Educational Consultancy named 'The Calculus' from Delhi for cheating me of Rs. 40000.
Their office addresses is-
1)The Calculus, G-81 2nd Floor, Middle Circle Connaught Circus New Delhi - 110001 India).
2) The Calculus, Corporate Office, Suite V-404, The Artrium Hotel, Shooting range road, Surajkund, Faridabad- 121009- Delhi NCR
I had posted my enquiry on Sulekha.com for higher education (masters of Science) abroad. I got a call from THE CALCULUS who told me about their consultancy process and the higher education in Germany. They promised to keep transparency in the process and go with the process as promised. I paid Rs. 40000 to the consultancy, and after that they started deviating from their said statements. They also refused to refund the money, which was promised earlier.
The clear scenario of the situation is given below.
I wanted to pursue masters of science in a country abroad. So I put an enquiry on Sulekha.com, and this consultancy contacted me regarding higher education in Germany. Then as time passed, I started getting repeated calls from Mrs. Samrath Kaur, telling me to enroll in their consultancy, since the deadlines were nearing.
She sent an e-mail which explained the fees, and also promised a job which would fetch around 2-3 lakhs a month.
My situation was, that I have completed my UG course with the help of Bank loan. I cannot afford the high fees of colleges abroad. So I told Mrs. Samrath kaur that I would be extending my current bank loan to pay the fees. Extension of loan requires an admission letter from the college/University.
When I asked Mrs. Samrath about the process, she told me the following (in sequence)-
1) I have to pay Rs. 40000 and register with the consultancy.
2) I have to submit the notarised copies of my academic transcripts (10 sets of copies).
3) Based on my academic details, the consultancy would applying for 10 universities.
4) I would have to select 1university for my course.
5) I would receive a conditional admission letter from the university, and another letter from a German language Institute.
6) I would have to deposit the fees of 7490 euro into the Language Institute account and 8040 euros in German Blocked account. There would be no fee for University degree course.
Mrs. Samrath said that they will be providing the admission letters, one each from a German University and German language institute after the payment of Rs.40000 (And without any extra payment).
The letter could be used to apply for a bank loan.I found this statement convincing as I would be able to pay the fees through bank loan. Also deposited the amount in their Account.
After the full payment was made by me, the consultancy told me to send the notarised copies of my academic transcripts.
After I mailed the notarised copies of documents, a few days later, I got an invoice from ANOTHER CONSULTANCY named 'BSK International', asking me to deposit 7490 euro (Rs. 6, 00, 000 ) in their account. This was just an International consultancy invoice with no mention of any University on it. It was also addressed to the CALCULUS.
I rang up to THE CALCULUS and told them about it, to which they said that the amount HAS TO BE PAID or else I would not be given the names of the Universities. I reminded them about their promising statements, of providing an ADMISSION LETTER from a UNIVERSITY to apply for a bank loan, and not an invoice.
To this, they started suggesting me ways like finance broker, personal loan and other things to pay their 6, 00, 000 rupees.I refused, since the process was not going according to what was promised in the beginning.
Afterwards they said they that they can arrange a letter from the BSK international, but they also said I would have to pay an extra 100 euro for that. I replied that the consultancy had promised to get an admission letter from a University, and not from a Consultancy, and that I would not pay any extra money, since this was not a part of the fees as discussed earlier. To this, they just started keeping down the phone saying, "I have to ask my seniors"...
Later Ms. Shivani Nagpal from the so-called 'Operations team' started to communicate with me, compelling me to Deposit the amount of Rs. 6, 00, 000 in anyway whatsoever. Since it was very different from what was said in the beginning, and the repeated requests to the agency not bearing any result, I decided to opt out of the process, and asked them to refund my fees. To this, Ms. Shivani tried to scare me in the name of the agreement.
When I told them about complaining to the legal authorities, they said their legal team would sue me for Rs.50, 00, 000.
I firmly replied that I was true with my instincts, and that I possessed all the conversations, and then they just stopped replying.
Now neither are they receiving my calls, nor are they replying to my e-mails.
I have the evidence of each and every conversation I had with each personnel of the agency. I know that I am not the only victim. I have read other posts on this website which clearly indicate that the Consultancy "THE CALCULUS" is a fraud and dishonest consultancy.
I know that these people have not sent my documents to any university. The total loss was about Rs.46000.
My financial circumstances do not allow me to cope up with a loss of Rs. 46000. The money I paid for the Consultancy was borrowed from a gold loan. That hard earned money was lost for nothing. None of the statements made by the agency in the beginning were fulfilled.
I request you to conduct an Enquiry, and take strict action against the Consultancy Personnel.
I also request you to help me getting my money back. I can provide you with all the e-mails, the scanned copy of the bill, the bank deposit slip, the invoice from the other agency and some voice recordings of the conversation with the agency.
I have attached the copies of the Consultancy fees receipt of Rs. 40000 and the Invoice that I had received from BSK International, with this form.
Hoping to get Justice.
Yours sincerely,
Anup Kambli
