Complaint Details
Hi, I would like to register complaint against Reliance Energy for excessive billing for Account No. 151671580 which is in the name of my landlord Mr Deepak Sohanlal Monga. I'm staying in this apartment since 18 Sep 2014 and starting September 2014 itself, electricity bills by Reliance Energy are really high and not inline with consumption. I moved to this house, 1604 B, Brentwood, Hiranandani Gardens, Powai, Mumbai -76 on 18 Sep 2014 and didn't use A/C for a single day in Sep 2014. Bill for Sep 2014 was generated to be Rs 3830. Bills for Oct and Nov came as Rs. 23104 and Rs. 20542 respectively. For these two months I was using one A/C for 8-10 hrs average. For all these months starting Sept 2014, I've been using microwave and geysers very minimal. However, still, the bill amounts are way too above as per consumption.
On 2 Dec 2014, I registered a complaint with Reliance Energy, complaint no. 1017030360, for excessive billing, however, I got a response from them that the meter was inspected and found to be working perfectly fine. For all this while I was not paying the bills because they were incorrect, however, on 9 Jan 2015, Reliance Energy guys disconnected the electricity connection and I was told that it will be reconnected only after I pay the pending bills. On 9 Jan 2015 itself, I made an online payment of Rs. 57320 to Reliance Energy and they reconnected the connection.
On 10 Jan 2015, I visited Reliance Energy office at Tilak Nagar in Chembur to request for the lab test of the meter, however, I was told by officials that they will get the MRI data from the meter and analyse for any discrepency. On next Tuesday when I called them to check for status I was told that as per MRI data, the consumption is genuine and Reliance Energy can not do anything in this matter. On 17 Jan, I went to Tilak Nagar office in Chembur again to request for lab test of meter and was given complaint no. 1017476536. I was told that this lab test may take from 15-30 days.
I'm however not willing to wait that long because of 2 reasons. 1, it will again have my January bill generated, which will again be high. 2, I'm sure that the lab report may also not find the obvious fault in the meter which is definitely faulty.
I'm therefore writing to you to please suggest me as to how you may help me in recovering the extra payment that I've made so that I may get this connection changed to other energy provider. Please let me know if you need any other information from me.
Thanks,
Balram Bandhu
