Complaint Details
1. I have subscribed to the broadband and landline service of Airtel for almost 2 years now. Invariably, my quota of GB usage(25GB unlimited) within 10 days of my billing cycle. This was followed by repeated messages to buy higher GB plans and smartbytes at a higher cost. In this manner, I kept on increasing my plan but the story continues to be the same.

2. Upon complaining, I was repeatedly informed that the usage could be monitored by opening an account on Airtel website. However, the website refuses access to the account stating technical errors much of the time. As a result, the account could not be accessed, even by the sale engineers of Airtel who visited our home to set up the account on my computer.

3. Ultimately, after months of trying and complaining, I could setup and access the account only on 3rd April 2016 i.e. 1 day after the new billing cycle(2nd April). I was shocked to find that out of my 25 GB quota, the account overview showed that 14GB had been consumed, while specific usage details show approximately 4.6 GB usage, that in itself is inflated deliberately.

4. I am sure most of the Airtel consumer would have had the same experience. It is possible that they have been duped in believing that this was their actual consumption, particularly if they have not been able to setup their account. It is time that all such cheated customers should bring this unfair trade practice to the notice of all, and seek redressal. You may kindly air your grievances in the media or other public forums. Any specific instances of such high-handedness mayu kindly be forwarded to my email.
